Staying Healthy Together

Nothing is more important than the health and well-being of our teams. We implemented several initiatives including a wellness community on our internal intranet platform to allow our team members to share tips and tricks on keeping healthy. The creation of shared guides allowed our team members to understand how to set up comfortable and productive workspaces at home and how to maintain healthy boundaries and routines while working remotely. This ensures we stay connected and help encourage one another during our new 'Let's Get Moving’ fitness challenge.
The ‘Let’s Get Moving’ fitness challenge is designed to help teams stay connected and active. Participants track their individual activity which rolls up to their team’s total. The more active each team is as a group, the faster they reach each checkpoint in this friendly and supportive challenge.
We currently have:

  • 131 teams competing to reach the final checkpoint
  • 523 team members participating
  • 22,000 miles completed

We're looking forward to seeing who will be crowned the winning team once the challenge ends.

Focusing on mindfulness

At Hilti, we recognize that mindfulness and mental wellness are critical aspects of our health, too. Focusing on behaviors that support mindfulness and offering tools and services that are proven to make a difference can help team members and their families reduce stress and achieve balance in all aspects of their lives.

Hilti’s Resources for Living program offers free, confidential access to a variety of qualified professionals for services like personal counseling, relationship support and legal or financial services, as well as in-the-moment support to cope with the emotional impact of a crisis, like COVID-19. We want to ensure our team members and their families feel supported through this time.

We also created an online family community on our internal intranet platform. This space allows our team members to share tips and tricks on a variety of topics such as education and family activities. We've seen some creative ideas shared already and are actively encouraging all employees to join and contribute.

Connecting with our culture

While we're working harder than ever across the business, we also recognize the need to pause, take a breather and step back to reflect.

Ask any team member what makes Hilti a unique place to build a career and very often their response will be, our culture. We think of our culture as a journey, and during this time of physical distancing, we've introduced virtual 'Pit Stops'. These checkpoints allow team members to stop for a moment and reflect on what they have been working on for the past few months, how they are feeling and discuss the positives during a time of uncertainty. The team members that guide us through our culture journey are known as Spirit Sherpas, and they have worked quickly to adapt to our new virtual working environment, too.

And finally, we recognize the importance of inclusivity despite social distancing. That extends from everyday topics like how we conduct virtual meetings all the way through to how we get involved with important events such as Cultural Diversity Month and Pride. Watch this space!

Building a better future

Our team members are given 16 hours of paid time off to give back to their local communities, a commitment that is important now, more so than ever. Since the start of the pandemic, our teams have helped build a better a future in so many ways.
